Part of our Elements of History collection.

Set in unique teardrop pendant, this unique pendant is embellished with materials from our 120 year old, historic building.
Originally the Burlington Public Library, the sandstone building was sold to the Des Moines County Historical Society in 2009, and was then converted over to our beloved museum and Heritage Center.

The materials used are:

Black-slate from our 120 year old roof

Red-Sandstone from our 120 year old historic building

Crinoids from Burlington formation fossiliferous limestone in front of our building, (some of the blocks were originally used as curbs at Snake Alley before being replaced during a restoration project.)

Made by a local artisan, resin is used to seal the materials in place, creating a one of a kind piece of art!

Please note that due to the nature of the materials used, each necklace will vary slightly in length and appearance.

All proceeds from the sale of this item goes to our Raise the Roof campaign, which covers the $650,000 price tag for rebuilding our historic slate and copper roof.
