Part of our Elements of History collection.

Set in unique round pendant, this unique pendant is embellished with materials from our 120 year old, historic building.
Originally the Burlington Free Public Library, the sandstone building was sold to the Des Moines County Historical Society in 2009, and was then converted over to our beloved museum and Heritage Center.

The materials used are:

Black-slate from our 120 year old roof

Red-Sandstone from our 120 year old historic building

Crinoids and limestone from in front of our building, and originally mined from the world famous crinoid beds (specimen is one of over 300 known species found in our area!)

Made by a local artisan, resin is used to seal the materials in place, creating a one of a kind piece of art!

Please note that due to the nature of the materials used, each necklace will vary slightly in length and appearance.

All proceeds from the sale of this item goes to our Raise the Roof campaign, which covers the $650,000 price tag for rebuilding our historic slate and copper roof.
