Join us for a unique and rewarding volunteer experience! It is the overall mission of the Des Moines County Historical Society to preserve, protect, and promote the history of Des Moines County, and we need dedicated volunteers to help us bring history to life.
You can serve as a:
- Museum Docent – Greet visitors and guide them through exhibits at the Heritage Museum, Garrett-Phelps House, or the Crapo Park Log Cabin.
- School Tour Docent and Museum Educator – Help children gain a special appreciation of the history of Des Moines County.
- Research and Collections Volunteer– Work with the Curator on projects including researching, cataloguing, cleaning exhibits, and other functions.
- Administration Volunteer – Perform general office duties such as mailings, filing, and database entry.
- Special Events Volunteer – Assist staff at special events like lectures, membership meetings, and fundraising activities.
You will receive the training needed to effectively carry out your duties.
